Kathy Gruninger

I knew from the age of 15 that I wanted to be a nurse. I followed my dream and became a nurse in 1972. In 1990 I felt that I needed to do something different, so I went to the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado because of the great program they had for nurses. I have been doing massage therapy since and I absolutely love it. My favorite modality is Neuromuscular Therapy. This brings on deep relaxation, relieves muscle tension and stiffness. It also reduces muscle spasms and nerve entrapment in the muscle. You will have greater mobility, increased circulation, greater Rom and decreased trigger points. Neuromuscular Therapy is very deep work, so it also works on a mental and emotional level. I also specialize in… • Swedish Massage • Hot Stone Massage • Prenatal and Infant Massage • Aromatherapy using Young Living Essential Oils • Raindrop Technique • Body Scrubs using Salt or Sugar My favorite pastimes are spending time with my husband of 38 years, riding our bikes and our new found love, golfing. We also love to spend time with our two daughters and their extended family and our two wonderful grandchildren. I also have a passion for reading and quilting. There is always a book to be read or a quilt to be had. I believe that massage therapy is a very important step in a clients healing process, whether it is an injury or everyday stress. I also believe that my clients do a lot of the work themselves from drinking water, stretching, relaxation and any other great modality that is out there, but I feel so strongly that touch is so important for all these modalities to blend and make them so much more healthier that they can’t possibly go wrong.

Tiffany Shocklee

Tiffany is a certified massage therapist and biodynamic craniosacral therapist. She has always been fascinated by the mystery and the science of the body. Yoga and bodywork provide a forum for her to continually expand her knowledge and deepen her reverence for the embodied human experience. She began her bodywork training in 2004, the same year she took her first yoga teacher training. Since then, she has studied at three different massage schools, and in 2010 received her certification in Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy from the Colorado School of Energy Studies in Boulder. She also writes continuing education massage courses for ABMP's online education center. Her massage sessions combine deep tissue, shiatsu, swedish, neuromuscular, trigger point, and energetic techniques. This type of work is therapeutically oriented to address chronic pain, injury, postural imbalance, and general stress and tension. Regular bodywork will improve athletic performance and enhance your yoga practice. When your body is functioning with ease, you experience better sleep, improved digestion, greater levels of energy, and a more positive outlook on life!
Biodynamic craniosacral therapy is a gentle, yet profound approach that can be incorporated into a massage session or practiced on its own. The practitioner uses a soft, sustained touch to provide support and illuminate areas of imbalance in skeletal, muscular, neurological, or fluid systems of the body. Working directly with the central nervous system awakens the body's innate capacity to restore balance. An ongoing conversation between therapist and client offers clients the empowerment of understanding their own system on a deep level. People often compare the effects of this work to structural integration, while the tone of the session is much like a guided meditation. While it can be used to address the same physical issues that massage does, craniosacral also effectively resolves trauma and psycho-emotional struggles. Come see for yourself how this work can transform your life. Introductory sessions, for craniosacral therapy only, are offered at half the normal rate.

Available at the Golden and Arvada studios, and also for house calls. Contact Tiffany directly at (503) 804 3213 or tiffhop@gmail.com for rates and to schedule an appointment.

Asiana

Massage Therapist and Yoga Instructor, Kirstin Harper, also known as Asiana, studied at the Ayurvedic Institute and the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics, in Albuquerque where she received her certifications. Other specialties include Ayurvedic Lifestyle consulting and Natural Therapeutics Specialist. Recent travels throughout India, Thailand, and SE Asia afforded opportunities to study Thai massage and gain a deeper understanding of the technology available to us through meditation, pranayama and yoga asana.

Along with facilitating Yoga classes in the Evergreen, Golden and Denver areas, Asiana offers integrated bodywork treatments specializing in Core Synchronism, Polarity, Therapeutic and Thai massage. She has also been trained in modalities such as Swedish, Shiatsu, Reiki, and Prenatal. Through the ever-changing sensations of existence and the power of nature and spirit, Asiana is honored to be a part of this journey and facilitate harmony and integration in these bodies.

Polarity Therapy is a healing art based on restoring the vital energy of a human being to a relaxed and energized balance. A soft, stimulating or deep touch is used to affect the finer electromagnetic energy currents within the body and mind, thus supporting mental ease, physical comfort and over-all health.

Core Synchronism assists nature in establishing balance within the human organism. It works from the inside out, using a light, hands-on approach, aligning the entire body with the rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid.

This can release pressure in the brain, support the nervous system and relieve pain. Core invokes deep states of relaxation as the body's natural ability to find balance is revealed.

Therapeutic Massage integrates deep tissue and Swedish massage strokes for the purpose of relieving tightness, tension and pain, both physically and mentally. This involves slow and deep manipulation of the muscles and surrounding fascia, as well as long stretching, kneading and sweeping strokes leaving an overall feeling of well being.

Thai Massage involves stretching and deep pressure point massage along the main meridians. This form of bodywork is usually performed on the floor, and the client wears comfortable clothes that allow for movement. No oils are used in Thai massage. It is known in Thailand as "nuat phaen boran" literally, the ancient-manner massage.

Lauren Duker

Lauren teaches awakening to each movement, each breath and each moment. In our hectic lives, we often lose touch with our breath and become adversaries against our bodies. Yoga and Therapeutic Thai Yoga Bodywork are traditional healing and opening methods to help us reconnect with the small miracles of being human. Thai Yoga Bodywork compassionately opens the body and balances the mind, heart and spirit.

Delving deeper into many healing traditions helped Lauren to discover the incredible healing art of Therapeutic Thai Yoga Bodywork . She was certified through the Denver Integrative School of Massage in 2011.

Why not call it massage? Because it is so much more.

Working both the physical and subtle bodies, Therapeutic Thai Yoga Bodywork fuses a spectrum of techniques: kneading, acupressure, yoga asana, assisted stretching, leaning pressure, energy line work, breath, arterial compression, reflexology, aromatherapy and Thai herbal compressing. All of these methods intertwine beautifully to create a compassionate dance between practitioner and receiver that will leave you warm, supple and balanced. Each session will be customized to nourish your particular needs.

Lauren is available every Friday and Saturday by appointment at the Asana Studio in Olde Town Arvada. Please contact Lauren directly: lauren@asanastudio.com / www.laurenduker.com
